The United States of America, and many of its, potentially, best and finest, made the ultimate commitment, fighting in wars, to ensure the world avoided repression, persecution, and protecting the rights, liberties, and freedoms, we have come to expect! Our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, provides us, with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of justice, and, yet, it appears, there are many American citizens and leaders, who are focused on their self - interest, personal and/ or political agenda, rather than protecting all of our freedoms, as opposed to solely, those we like! Unfortunately, especially, very recently, we seem to be observing, polarization, over the common good, and an escalation of vitriol, and apparently, prejudicial rhetoric, rather than protecting, freedoms and liberties, for all our citizens! Let's review, just, a few, examples, of some of the warning signs, that we should avoid overlooking, and/ or ignoring.

1. Freedom of the Press: Simply because there is a press report, which opposes, a specific position, statement made, or program, of any political leader, does not make it, fake news. Unfortunately, President Trump, in a seemingly, politically motivated attempt, to stir - up. his core supporters and followers, uses the slogan, Fake News, every time, any report is opposed to him, etc. Although there has been an influx of false reports, most have been, online, and, especially, in Social Media. When one media outlet, consistently, reports news, differently than nearly all the others, and some citizens, only watch reports, they agree with, it is not, a good sign, and/ or omen, for America's future!

2. Immigration: When did America transform from, the Melting Pot, to the vestibule of, hatred, bigotry, prejudice, and bias, pitting one ethnic group, against others? Nearly every American comes from a heritage of immigration, yet, we are experiencing a period, of, never - before, witnessed, hatred and bigotry!

3. Separation of Church and State: While our citizens are guaranteed, the freedom to practice, their religion, there is no national religion, in the United States. When so many politicians, articulate messages, using their interpretation of the Bible, as a defense against any of our guaranteed, rights and freedoms, America loses!

4. Women's rights: The Supreme Court is supposed to consider laws, in terms of their Constitutional adherence, etc, rather than being political. The only litmus - test, for a Justice, should be the legal scholarship and ethics, and not, their personal political position, and/ or agenda! Our law gives a woman, the Right - to - Choose, so, the individual, can choose, what's best for them!
